In the far north of Zante lies the port of Skinari, otherwise known as Agios Nikolaos. There are a few other building here and a scattering of tourist accommodation along this stretch of the coast but Skinari is dominated by its port. Ferries depart twice a day for the neighbouring island of Kefalonia from the port, one in the early morning and one mid afternoon. Skinari is not a very convenient departure point from the island, it taking the best part of an hour to drive here from the major points of residence in the east of the island. Why not treat yourself to a car hire whilst you're on Zante so you get the most out of your visit. Boat trips also go from Skinari to the Blue Caves, an impressive collection of limestone caves, arches and stacks just along the coast. Some boats also go on to the dramatic Smugglers Cove, or Navagio Bay.
